Jimmie's honor

It has been a very exciting week here at The Heuga Center.  I had a wonderful time in New Orleans.  They were wonderful hosts and the group of physical and occupational therapists were great.  It was a fun program to provide.

Tuesday was a very big day because Jimmie Heuga, our founder, was inducted into the World Sports Humanitarian Hall of Fame.  This is quite an honor and, we at the Center are extremely excited.  While Jimmie's accomplishments as an Olympic athlete will always be an important part of Olympic skiing history, his accomplishments as founder of the Center have been equally impressive.  Granted I am a little biased, but Jimmie's action of founding the Center has touched so many people with an important message of living one's life to the fullest no matter what.  I believe this has extended beyond just MS, although that continues to be the Center's focus, because we often hear from support partners how the fundamental components of our programs are applicable to them.  Fundamental concepts such as 'CAN DO' instead of 'can't do'.  Also the importance of maintaining or improving your health to maximize function and quality of life.  These are important concepts for everyone to consider.  Therefore, we are extremely happy that Jimmie has been recognized for the wonderful work that he has done to help people living with MS across the world.
