Last week got away from me and I wasn't able to provide an entry while at the National MS Society's Public Policy Conference in Washington, DC. It was a good conference and very interesting to learn how the political process works in relation to introduction of bills, appropriations and law. It was a great refresher from those civics classes way back in middle and high school! Anyway, the Society, along with the MS Coalition members in attendance are working hard to make a difference in the lives of people living with MS. Priorities were accessing funding for research, setting up an MS registry and eliminating the 24 month waiting period for Medicare benefits for those receiving Social Security Disability. You can also make a difference by contacting your senators and congressmen an letting them know your thoughts.
This week is our CAN DO program at the Lodge at Vail. We will be starting the program on Wednesday morning, but we will be finalizing the program details on Monday and Tuesday. We look forward to welcoming the programs staff and programs participants to our home, here in the Vail Valley.
Our next program will be quickly approaching, also. That CAN DO program will be August 6-10 in Tarrytown, NY. If you are interested in attending the program, please complete an application and submit to us. Our applications go through a review process so it is important to get your application in early. We would love to see you at the Westchester Marriott in Tarrytown.
