8:30 Q and A with Mike Marolt
Join adventurer Mike Marolt at Beaver Creek's Vilar Performing Arts Center for a screening of his new hour-long film. "Skiing the High Line" is the tale of three friends and their quest to ski from some of the highest places on earth. It's his third feature chronicling the high-altitude skiing exploits of the Marolts and company. He says it’s unquestionably the best film he’s made yet.
Skiing the High Line is a film about life-long friends and Aspenites Mike and Steve Marolt and Jim Gile, and their pursuit of pushing their limits in the highest mountains on earth. Learn about their families, about their philosophy in the mountains. Follow the trio as they travel across China to the Tibetan Plateau to attempt a climb and ski on the world's 6th highest peak, Cho Oyu followed by an attempt to climb and ski the North Face of Mt. Everest. Skiing the high line will bring you into the heads of three guys who have taken north American high altitude skiing to the cutting edge and will leave you with an understanding of what makes these guys do what they do. Shot, written, and edited by Mike Marolt along with Aspen locals, Cherie Silvera, and Danny Brown, Skiing the High Line is a unique ski film that brings the viewer into the small world of what it is like to ski some of the greatest peaks on earth.
